SC stays arrest in FIR subject to deposit of Rs. 10 Lakhs within 15 days

The SC on June 25, 2020 {JASPAL SINGH & ANR. vs THE STATE OF PUNJAB & ANR.} observed that the petitioners has made an offer to deposit the sum of Rs. 31 Lakhs. It was observed that he has prayed for a reasonable time to make the deposit. 

The SC Vacation Bench, comprising of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna held that in order to be entitled to be heard, the petitioners shall have to deposit a sum of Rs. 10 Lakhs within 15 days. It was held that if he fails to comply with the order and inform the Court about the deposit, the Special Leave Petition shall stand dismissed without further reference to the Bench.

It was held that subject to deposit of the amount, as aforesaid, the arrest of the petitioners in connection with FIR No. 001 dated 04.01.2020 registered at Police Station Division 4, District Police Commissionerate, Jalandhar, shall remain stayed till the next date of hearing.
